Hartland v Spindletop Meet

I hope everyone is getting excited for tomorrow’s meet against Hartland (4910 Hartland Parkway, Lexington KY 40515). The theme is BLUE OUT! Wear blue to support the Cudas!

Divers should arrive at 1

Warm Ups will begin at 1:30

The Dive Meet will begin at 2

Swimmers should arrive at 4:45

Warm Ups will begin at 5:00

The Swim Meet will begin at 5:30

What to Bring: Packing properly for a swim meet is very important. Your child will need two towels (one to use and one to sit on), goggles (label these and keep up with them), dry clothes (flannel pants and hooded sweatshirts are favorites) for after the meet, water for hydration, healthy snacks, a suit, and a swim cap (they do not have to wear a cap if they don’t want to but if they do we ask that all swimmers wear a Cuda cap). Many kids also bring games or electronics that can be played between events. Your children must keep up with their own belongings. The lost and found is always overflowing after a meet; double check your things before you leave after the meet’s conclusion.

The team area is in the field near the playground/side of the clubhouse so you may also want to bring chairs/blankets to sit on. You are also welcome to bring tents and coolers. They will have 3 food trucks: C&J Food Bar, Burnaco's Mexican, and Kona Ice. They will also sell water & gatorade on the pool deck under the red tent for $1 each (cash only).

A few other notes from Hartland: “All kids always start from the block end of the pool as we do not want any kids diving into the shallow end of the pool. Timers will switch ends in between the 25s and the 50s. Clerk of Course will be located behind the starting blocks. When taking your kids to Clerk of Course, please have them walk to the gate at our main entrance near the bridge/playground side of the pool and around behind the diving well. This will limit congestion on the other side of the pool where there are many workers and home team parents as well. Away team viewing area is on the diving well side of the pool. Please only come to the deck to watch your child swim so there is room for everyone to watch their swimmers!”

I have attached the Heat Sheet to this email. I will also always upload the Heat Sheet (the day before/of the meet) and Meet Results (the day of/following the meet) to SwimTopia under the Meet Event listing. To find these you will go to the “Meets and Events” tab > Find the Meet and you will see the Heat Sheet and Results below the Meet name next to an attachment icon that looks like a paperclip. You will also be able to see these on the Home page under the Upcoming Events section. Directly under the meet name you will see the same attachment icon that looks like a paperclip with the Heat Sheet.

For all 10&Under Parents, please use a black sharpie marker to help younger swimmers write their events, heats, and lane numbers on their arms. It is also helpful to the age group parent if a young swimmer’s name and age is written on their back on their upper right shoulder. The heat sheet will tell you the order of events and what heat and lane your swimmer will be in. Prior to the start of the meet, mark your swimmer’s arm with event number, heat, lane number, and stroke.

Stroke Abbreviations

F- Freestyle
B- Backstroke
FLY- Butterfly
BR- Breaststroke

I have also attached the volunteer list for tomorrow’s meet. Parents, we couldn’t run these meets without you! If your name is on the list please make sure you arrive on time for your position. If you are a second half worker, please do not leave before the second half. We still need you there and ready to work after the conclusion of backstroke so we can make the switch off of workers as quick as possible. When you arrive make sure to sign the check in sheet under the scorers tent so that we know you were there and can give you credit for volunteering. If you do not sign the check in sheet, you will not receive credit for the volunteer position.

Volunteers for the following jobs are still needed:

6&U Boys Age Group Parent (2 points)

7/8 Boys Age Group Parent (2 points)

9/10 Boys Age Group Parents (2 points)

Timer/Recorder 1st Half (1 point)

Ribbons 2nd Half (1 point)

If you are able to do any of these jobs, please contact Jill Kidder at [email protected].

If you have an age group swimmer (10&Under), you need to work a meet as an age group parent. We have had trouble getting age group parent workers this season and we have many 10&Under swimmers. Below is a reminder of our volunteer requirements: Each swim family is required work 4 half meets (earn 4 points) during the regular swim season, which does not include Conference. Each dive family is required to work at least 2 full dual meets (earn 4 points, 1 meet = 2 points). A family with a swimmer and diver is required to earn 4 swim points AND 4 dive points. Jobs are assigned different point values, a job working for half a meet = 1 point, working for a whole meet = 2 points. A $50 fine will be issued per each unearned point.

For those who still haven’t gotten their apparel, it will be available for pickup at our next home meet on June 21st. For any questions regarding apparel, contact Crystal Carty at [email protected].

Look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow! Go CUDAS!
