Conference/Spirit Day/Dive Party Information
Spindletop Families,
Please read this entire email and keep with you as a reference throughout the next few days!
This is the most exciting part of the entire season!!
We have regular dive practice Friday and Saturday for all the divers competing on Sunday. All the other Spindletop divers are more than welcome to attend, they just won't be using the board time since the ones competing can be as prepared for our championship meet as possible.
Spirit Day
Immediately following each age group practice, the divers will then go to celebrate Spirit Day. We are super excited that this years conference theme is Barracuda Rodeo! So grab your cowboy hats and boots and anything country or western and get excited for another fun-filled conference! For Spirit Day this year (Saturday, July 8th) we will have supplies for tie dying bandanas and any other white shirts that the kids would like to bring. We will also have supplies for decorating cowboy hats! If your child is able to participate in spirit day, please have them bring a white shirt or bandana to tie dye that day and/or a white, blue or yellow cowboy hat (available at party city or on Amazon) to bedazzle and decorate to show our Cuda Spirit! We will also be decorating Cuda Spirit posters and signing big banners to hang up around the pool! Parents, if you are a able to help bring some craft supplies such as blank posters, markers and some paints and glitter glue for our hats, that would be awesome, we will collect everything at practice the Friday before and the morning of Spirit Day. Coach Maya will collect items Friday and Saturday mornings. Saturday around 11:00am all items can go straight to the barn where they will be setting up Spirit Day! If we have any weather issues, then we will still have Spirit Day and move everything inside to The Barn (we've done that before).
Pre-Conference Dive Party/Send-Off for Coach Jules
Saturday evening, July 8th is our Dive Party and send-off for Coach Jules to wish her good luck in the World Championships. I have ordered the cake, the goodie bags will be assembled/distributed, we will have at least one Olympic diver present, and we will finish the evening with our official dive team warmup.
Anyone interested in helping put the goodie bags together needs to meet at 6pm at the tiki tent. All the conference divers get a goodie bag, as well as some of our other divers that are coming to the dive meet to support their teammates competing. We have a huge tea, so each family will need to signup to contribute something. If you can't get there at that time, or it would be easier to drop your items off at practice, then Andrea Sutton and Kathy Bobadilla will be collecting those. Andrea Sutton created a SignUp page that is going to be EXTREMELY helpful with the organization of this! Please click on this link to signup for your item(s): https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url...
The Spindletop Diving/Team Jules shirts will be distributed at the party for everyone who ordered one, and all the profit raised from the shirts are going to directly to Jules to help cover travel costs/expenses as she competes to earn the Olympic spot for South Africa in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. South Africa doesn't cover the athletes expenses so I am very happy that the Cuda family stepped up to help her. Many expressed an interest in contributing more, so please feel free to do that if you want, or don't feel like you have to, either.
We will start the party around 6:30pm, go over dive sheets, have cake, listen to Olympic diving stories, and then we will have our team warmup 8-9pm.
Dive Conference
I have attached the estimated timeline for Sunday. We could have weather issues but the meet will not be canceled, so do not leave. We will try to communicate with alerts (please sign up for alert notifications if you haven't already) through the SwimTopia app if we are experiencing major delays. Divers will come on deck when they arrive to check-in with the coaches. No parents/spectators will be allowed on the dive well deck during the meet. There will be an announcement when the table workers are supposed to report, so they will only come on deck at that time. Also, parents will be allowed to come on deck to take pictures after each age group has received their awards and are still on/in front of the podium. We have 11 teams with several divers, coaches, and meet workers that we will need all that space. Parents/spectators can sit in the bleachers on the lane pool deck, or bring folding chairs to set up anywhere outside of the dive well fence.
I would like for all the divers to come back out to Spindletop during the 13-14 age group so we can all be together when the team awards are announced! After we finish with the team awards and pictures, anyone that would like to go to the Cracker Barrel off Newtown Rd is encouraged to attend!
